Six days, three legendary parks and a group of fellow travellers — with an optional island finish in Zanzibar

Somewhere on the drive into the Serengeti, the hills fall away and the land simply keeps going — grass to the horizon, flat-topped acacias, and a line of wildebeest walking across it like they have somewhere urgent to be. Nobody in the vehicle says anything. Then the guide slows down, points at a shape in the grass, and a lioness lifts her head. That is the Serengeti, and this trip gives you two full nights in it. This six-day group safari covers Tanzania's northern circuit, the most celebrated wildlife route in Africa. It begins in Arusha, then heads to Tarangire National Park, famous for its huge elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. From the highland town of Karatu, the road crosses the Ngorongoro Conservation Area into the Serengeti, where you stay in a tented camp in the central plains, a region known for resident lion prides, cheetah and leopard. On the way back, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater — a collapsed volcano filled with wildlife, often called Africa's Garden of Eden — before a final night at a lodge on the edge of the Ngorongoro Forest. The group travels in two 4x4 Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs, six guests per vehicle, so every traveller gets a window seat. Each vehicle has its own English-speaking driver-guide. Every lodge and camp is briefed on vegetarian and Jain meals before the group arrives, and picnic lunches on game-drive days mean no time is wasted in the parks. Want sand between your toes after the dust? Add two nights in Zanzibar at a beach resort in Kiwengwa, with a Stone Town and spice farm tour — the classic way to end a Tanzania safari. Ideal for first-time safari travellers, couples, friends' groups and active seniors. Recommended for travellers aged 12 and above.
