Weekly Saturday departures from Mumbai, with flights, hotels, meals and a guide sorted — just pack and fly
Mumbai → Colombo → Pinnawala → Kandy → Nuwara Eliya → Bentota → Colombo → Mumbai
5N / 6D
The flight from Mumbai takes less time than most weekend drives to Lonavala in traffic. You take off before sunrise, land in Colombo in time for breakfast, and by lunchtime you're watching baby elephants splash in the river at Pinnawala. That is the easiest argument for Sri Lanka — and this fixed departure makes it easier still, with flights, hotels, meals and a guide already sorted. This five-night journey takes in the Sri Lanka that Indian travellers love most. Kandy comes first, the island's cultural capital, with the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and an evening of Kandyan drummers and fire dancers. The road then climbs into tea country, past the Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya, a working tea factory and the Ramboda waterfall, to Nuwara Eliya — "Little England", with its cool air, colonial bungalows and Gregory Lake. Here you visit the Seetha Amman Temple, revered as the site of Ashok Vatika from the Ramayana. The last two nights are on the golden beaches of Bentota, with a boat safari through the Madu Ganga mangroves and a visit to a sea turtle hatchery, before a final afternoon in Colombo for shopping. Safari Sutra runs this as a small-group departure every Saturday, with return IndiGo non-stop flights from Mumbai built in, breakfast and dinner daily, and an English-speaking driver-guide throughout. Every hotel is briefed on vegetarian and Jain meals before the group arrives. Sri Lanka's free ETA for Indian passport holders means no visa fee, no embassy visit — just your passport and a sense of adventure. Ideal for first-time international travellers, families, couples, senior travellers and friends' groups who want a well-paced holiday without the planning.
