Chalo, See Istanbul's Domes and Cappadocia's Valleys Without Rushing a Single Step
Istanbul → Cappadocia → Istanbul

The lift in your Cappadocia cave hotel opens straight onto a private terrace facing Pigeon Valley — no stairs, no scramble up a slope, just your morning tea and the valley waking up in front of you. This 6-night route takes in Istanbul's Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace, and Cappadocia's fairy-chimney valleys, but every day is rebuilt around comfort rather than coverage. Bosphorus sightseeing happens from a cushioned lower deck. Cappadocia's valleys are seen from viewpoints reached by van, not by trekking trail. Balloons are watched rising from a fixed terrace instead of a walk into launch fields. Pottery demonstrations, tea tastings and museum visits are all seated. We chose hotels for their lifts and ground-floor cave suites, sequenced sightseeing with rest blocks built in rather than assumed, and kept transfers private throughout so nobody is managing stairs at a metro station. This suits retired couples, or adult children bringing parents along, who want Istanbul and Cappadocia's real highlights without a punishing daily step count. It's Turkey scaled to a gentler day, with a chair waiting at most of the good views.

We built this route backwards from the parts that usually exhaust older travellers on a standard Turkey itinerary — underground cities, hillside climbs, standing bazaar queues — and replaced them with viewpoints, seated demonstrations, and hotels with lifts, so the pace stays gentle without missing Istanbul's or Cappadocia's signature sights.
“"My parents are both past 70 and we were nervous about how much walking Turkey would involve. Safari Sutra had it planned so well — the cave hotel in Cappadocia had a lift straight to the terrace, and dad didn't climb a single flight of stairs the whole trip." — Ritu Malhotra, Delhi”
