Albania is one of those countries that works better with children than without them. The castles are real and climbable — not roped off with velvet barriers but open, rugged and full of corners to explore. The beaches are uncrowded enough that children can actually move. And locals, particularly in smaller towns like Berat and Shkodër, respond to families with an unselfconscious warmth that is noticeably different from tourist-industry hospitality. This 7-night family circuit covers Albania's most accessible highlights at a pace that doesn't exhaust children or bored parents. Tirana opens with its colour-blocked apartment buildings — genuinely interesting to kids — and the cable car up Dajti Mountain. Shkodër gives you a lake, a castle and a bike-friendly flat old town. Berat is the visual centrepiece, its castle-neighbourhood manageable on foot for children over 7. Gjirokastër's fortress has a captured Cold War aircraft that tends to fascinate in the way that dry museum exhibits do not. And three nights along the Albanian Riviera provide the coastal exhale that every family trip needs. Safari Sutra builds in a rest afternoon after every two heavy days, selects restaurants with reliable vegetarian dishes and avoids overly long transfer days. The vehicle is spacious enough for luggage, tired children and a rear seat that reclines. Suitable for families with children aged 6 and above. Younger children can join but some hilltop walks involve uneven cobbled surfaces.
