The Saurashtra coastline holds Somnath, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples, and Dwarka, where the Arabian Sea crashes against the walls of a city that devotees believe Krishna once ruled. Gujarat's thali — dal, bajra rotla, kadhi, and a dozen small katoris of vegetable preparations — is the most comprehensive argument for vegetarian cooking you will find anywhere in India.
